Hi there. I'm Cherisse Lu.
I’m a graphic designer based in the Washington, D.C. area with 10 years of experience helping organizations tell their stories through thoughtful, engaging design—and occasionally reminding people that design is more than just “making it look pretty.”
I’ve worked across advertising, public relations, and government consulting, creating everything from visual identities and marketing campaigns to publications, social media, events, and presentations. I enjoy turning big ideas and complex information into design that feels clear, approachable, and useful.
I’m especially drawn to projects connected to arts, culture, education, and community impact. Before opening Illustrator, I like to understand the people, goals, and story behind a project—because the best ideas usually start with a good conversation.
When I’m not designing, you’ll probably find me playing board games with friends, hiking with my dog, trying a new restaurant, or planning my next trip. I also love wandering through museums, noticing interesting signs and packaging, and collecting inspiration from everyday life.
Thanks for stopping by. 👋
